FTFI Recommendations
The Forward Together Facilities Initiative made recommendations to the WPS Board of Education at the beginning of 2026, which were approved on February 24, 2026. Sherrelwood will transition into a PK-6 school at the start of the 2026-27 school year.
What Comes Next
Current 5th graders will remain at Sherrelwood for one more year, as we add a level 6 to our building in the 2026-27 school year. Once our 6th graders head to middle school, they will attend Colorado Summit Leadership Academy for 7th and 8th grade.

An Exciting Transition
All students react differently to a change in their routine and what they know.
For many children, this will be an exciting transition and a part of growing up. Still, for others, especially younger children, it may produce some questions and anxiety. Our counselors have put together some simple talking points to keep in mind when talking to your children.
